Thanksgiving Thoughts

My love is fickle

in the best of days and at worst

it is non-existent

in the sea of wants and haves

and cannot possess

my love whispers

for me to take

away the uncertainty

of the seconds waiting

for a response

that threatens to break

its fickleness and

non-existence

into pieces of boundless

affection that jump

from these button eyes

and decomposing hands

that would rather grip

death’s cloak and

be dragged

around collecting

souls than cup

the face

of someone and risk

being buttered

and fattened up

to be served as

a side piece on

Thanksgiving

again.
