Divinity

By Esther Fisher

She found that Homer was wrong in his writings on divinity

Heroes and monsters and gods and goddesses

Divine yes in definition

But in practice

The deities shattered, marble on stone

Ancient and crumbling was nothing what Homer wrote

How could someone know divinity and personify the sentiment accurately

She knew Homer was wrong

Not because she knew she was right

But no god or goddess could ever compare

To the touch of a finger

On a cold afternoon

From the man who held the warmth of her heart
