Rapunzel and Lockdown

Saadeh George

Watercolour on Paper
2021

"Nothing Gold Can Stay"is about the transience of all seasons, of all life as we know it. Sometimes I write a poem and the the painting emerges and sometimes I paint and a poem is born. They are usually reflecting the passing of time as if on a train of thoughts that disappear very fast if not documented.

George grew up in the Lebanon, did medical school and specialised in Anesthesiology in Beirut, displaced by the horrors of a savage war, been a full time mother for 14 years, did a part-time BA Fine Arts in the UK, then specialised in Psychiatry in London. All through that time, she practiced visual arts, exhibited and wrote poetry.

At the moment she is a full time artist and poet, exhibiting actively and is a member of Riverside Artists Group.
