I am a painter, working in portrait and figurative painting. I have gotten into narrative painting in my last two years of university, creating scenes I construct from stories or imagination. My project ‘Omegle: Talk to Strangers’ kicked off this method of research. I would go on chat rooms and talk to people about their lives in the height of January lockdown, from there I would paint a scene from something they shared with me. I continue using the internet, podcasts, articles etc to gain information for narrative painting in a variety of social and political events that interest me, and I feel should be visually discussed.
