When We Sang in Asphodel
By Daniel Rabuzzi
Singing to the first pulse,
Amniotic heartbeat:
Hydrangea lilt,
Beat of lilies,
All the willows in the world
Swaying with you
andante
Asphodel,
Asters,
A clutch of tea-roses
Without thorns, a miracle
Which you are
As you sing with
Trillium;
Now
allegro moderato
Breathless but
Breathing out
Music, in
Music
Of violet, woodbine,
Drupal rhythm,
Drowsy no, no longer:
Wake-robin,
Jacob's ladder,
Oh now
allegro
Wind through the aspens,
Trembling,
Solidago, sunflower
Reaching out for
Sun
allegrissimo
flowers
Sun song upon arrival,
Johnny jump ups,
Tansy,
Tulips in their vases
con brio
Forget-me-not
