Unfolding

Kiln formed glass, collagraph prints, and accompanying text
2016
We all bloom in different ways – unfolding our flowers if the conditions are right.
The work “Unfolding” explores sexual identity through a collection of imaginary flowers in kiln formed glass and collagraph prints. They are accompanied by text labels referencing sexual identity.
The small collection of works was made as part of an art/science collaboration with researcher Gu Li (Cambridge University, UK) in 2016.
Ultimately the work is a celebration of diversity and change.
There is beauty in difference.

Most of my work has a starting point in our relationship with the body. I am particularly interested in the complex dynamics between body and mind, perception, and knowledge.
With a combined background in psychology and fine art, I continue to focus on issues of identity and the many ways of being in the world.
I work with kiln fired glass and ceramics, in wax and on paper – most often creating small interchangeable compositions of works.
Creative writing is increasingly important to how I develop my work and take it forward.
